17 MARCH 2011 CHALLENGES

By Ender Xer0

A recap of yesterday’s Daily Challenges and how well they went down. Want to post a Daily Carnage update of your own? Send us an email and we’ll set you up with a date.

BLASTIN’ AND RELAXIN’

Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach.

Not sure why all these “any game mode” Challenges all get different names. You’re just changing the number, yeah? Anyway, this one just came along for the ride as we blew away Covey legions for Firefight Thursday.

HYPER LETHAL VECTOR

Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking.

One of the coolest of all Challenge tags (taken from Noble 6’s informal nickname). I had intended to take on this and Killagruntjaro! at the same time, since it’s pretty easy to tap off two headshots in quick succession during a Gruntpocalypse on Corvette. As it turns out, Unearthed surfaced first during the voting cycle – probably by design – and since I hadn’t played it yet and wanted to check it out, I went with that even though the Grunts weren’t an option. One Nadefight later, I had already notched ‘Jaro and Blast Radius, with more than half of HLV finished as well. That let me pick pretty much any map and gametype to finish up all four Daily Challenges in just two matches of Firefight. Yowza!

KILLAGRUNTJARO!

Earn 10 multikills in a Firefight Matchmaking game.

As I mentioned, I wrapped this at the same time as Blast Radius, using ‘nades rather than headshots for my multikills. As it turns out, incredibly easy.

BLAST RADIUS

Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with grenades.

Choosing Nadefight – where you spawn with eight grenades, not counting what you can farm from the field – pretty much guarantees that you’re going to nail this Challenge in short order. Not sure why a Grenade Launcher wouldn’t count – that’s got a blast radius too, yeah? – but the fact is that you don’t even really need it.
