Halo Reach Daily is dedicated to my Dad, who taught me what it means to take on a Challenge.

CLASSIC SACK Screenshot Of The Day today courtesy of VS Beejer, who demonstrates how frikkin’ AWESOME it looks trailing Power flame while wearing Inclement Weather armor. Thanks, VS! Everyone, click to enlarge!

We’re running pix from the new Classic and Action Sack playlists all week. So, send your screenshots to, or just make a file recommendation to us on XBox (Gamertag: Ender Xer0, with a zero), and we’ll take care of the rest. Remember: we’re not looking for Forge art or random pix from the Internet; it should be a screenshot of YOU!

Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking.

Load up any power-weapon Firefight Arcade game and you should blast your way to this Challenge in a single match. Even if you fall short, though, it’s simple just to fire up another, or wrap things up in Score Attack.

(We’d recommend against Score Attack for starters, though; Gruntpocalypse seems like an obvious choice, but although it offers exactly the right number of Grunts — 120 — they tend to blow up themselves, or each other, or both, meaning you’d come up short and need a second Round anyway.)

Value: ★★★★★
Reward: 1000

Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking.

Head into Gruntpocalypse in Score Attack on Glacier and you’ll supercombine this Challenge with Heroic Spelunking (see below).

Kill 100 enemies on Glacier on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking.

Fire up a Gruntpocalypse in Score Attack and you’ll cross the finish line just after the boom-chuka-boom theme song of the final Wave starts up.

Glacier also features one of the best sniping perches in all of Halo, atop the West Tower of the Main Entrance (see the pic below). You’ll need to find the sweet spot outside the soft-kill-zone, but it’s pretty big and pretty easy. Just select Jetpack as your loadout, float up to your sniper nest and start making confetti.

Value: ★★★★★
Reward: 1750

Score 20,000 points in a Firefight Matchmaking game.

Despite that this is a Scoring Challenge, Score Attack is not your best bet here: under the new Firefight setup, it remains only a one-Round game, so even a Gruntpocalypse will likely not net 20K, no matter how skilled you are at headshots or multikills.

Instead, load up a standard Co-op Three-Round Firefight, and vote for a match that features vehicles as a “map hazard” (as they’re called in the game settings) — Wraiths, Banshees and even Ghosts will register massive points, far more than even the most powerful Covies. Beachhead easily represents your best option: multiple Wraiths, Ghosts and even a Rocket Hog tucked into the corner for when you’ve got a joyride-friendly partner.

The gametype itself won’t make much difference, however; each offers advantages, and three Rounds of Covies can deliver enough points no matter how you kill them.

  • Rocket and FRGFight represents your quickest shortcuts to points — especially while Jetpacking, raining plasma/fire from above onto enemy waves. Remember, though, your teammates will do the same thing, so don’t come late to the party. Also remember that your Launcher is not a crotch rocket and become cocky: Many Boss enemies, like Brute Chieftans, can shake off full missiles clips to the face before shoving a Hammer up your ass while you reload, so always lead or follow with grenades to finish them off.
  • Sniperfight gives you more opportunity to pick and choose enemies, so concentrate on big-ticket leaders first, even if it means emptying an entire clip to reach your killshot; you’ll still score more points than if you had simply unloaded into a pack of Jackals or Grunts.

The Target Locator: How to smell napalm in the morning.

  • Classic Firefight features both Rockets and Snipers as part of the Ordinance Drop, but if you’re lucky enough to snare the Target Locator, resist the urge to Killionaire a clutch of Covies and instead lock onto a Wraith: it’ll napalm the vehicle — scoring you major points — along with any stray Covies with the misfortune to be nearby. The Locator’s Red Ring Of Death will even follow a vehicle once it’s locked, so be patient and make a clean shot.

And, from reader Slidercleo:

Actually, Score Attack works great if you do 2x Score Attack…30k or better every game.

Thanks, Slidercleo!

Complete 24 Daily Challenges this week.

HOLY CRAP, that’s just about the biggest Challenge bonus in the all-time history of Challenge bonuses. Yow!

Not much to say, other than if you haven’t started yet, you’re shit-out-of-luck. If you started on time, then keep going: you can technically miss an entire day, but you’ll have to complete every single other Daily Challenge or you’ll mathematically eliminate yourself. So, better to nail them all during the week to give yourself some breathing room on the weekend.

And, if you think this is too much crazy for a videogame to ask: Just remember that the Daily Challenges average out to about 6,000 cR per day. This Weekly actually means that, in addition to all the cRedits you’ll earn just from actually tackling the Challenges, you’ll have cashed out an extra 54,000 cR in Daily and Weekly bonuses — but only if you finish.

So, crazy? Sure. But 54K will make a man do crazy, yeah?

I have to admit that’s one of the best screenshots I’ve ever seen! (just kidding)

  4. dukemeiser says:

Played Sniper Attack on Glacier. Got 24,810 points easy, so not that hard.
